Teaching Philosophy

My highest aim as a teacher is to encourage, guide, and enable each of my students to think clearly and critically about the world around them, their lives, and themselves. Ideally, I want all of my students to develop the mindset and the tools to pursue their lives with open-minded curiosity and critical reflection. I take philosophy as a discipline and intellectual tradition to be especially conducive to this goal. I find that being able to contribute to this aim is what makes teaching the most valuable and rewarding part of being a philosophy professor.
